SP - Tell us about yourself?
My name is Yvonne Okafor and I am a mother of one amazing and gifted son.
I am a serial entrepreneur who strongly believes in the power of networking and creating various streams of income thus my mantra is "Everyday is a Pay day"!
I have always had that notion that we as individuals, especially women create the path to our own success and thus are the dictionary that defines us and our destiny.
Owning a business is a journey and not an event and is really hard work but also hugely rewarding and I've been able to build a successful business that allows me greater flexibility to control the balance between my work and personal life.
My passion is to empower women to grow into the entrepreneur that they have been called to be by following the FAC motto –‘people helping people’. In my spare time (when I do have one) – I am very much involved in community actions within my church, blogging, singing, photography, networking, investing and travelling.
SP - How did your journey to business start?
I came across Fifth Avenue Collection (FAC) in March 2012 at the Vitality Show in Earls Court. I went to buy a pair of earrings as I like my sparkles and got talking to the sales leader who during our conversation, had sensed my entrepreneurial skills and informed me of the FAC Franchise and Hostessing Parties they offered. After about half an hour of hesitation, deep thinking and realising that indeed I do have a market niche – I signed up as an Independent Jeweller and have not looked back since.
SP - What are your future plans with fifth avenue collections?
I saw a niche within the Nigerian fashion industry back in August 2012 and have gone about to build a huge network of Independent Jewellers within the Nigerian zone which has to date 33 Jewellers but we need more saturation of black jewellers worldwide. I am the UK’s first Vintage Leader of which I currently have 43 Independent Jewellers and working my way up to Sales Leader.
I am also looking to expand the ‘hosting a party’ sector within FAC within the UK - All people need to do is BOOK & HOST their own Hostess/Catalogue shows by getting their family & friends together for either social gatherings (be it bridal/hen party, baby showers or simply a luncheon) and be ready to receive their FREE Hostess Gift, FREE Jewellery and HALF PRICE items all for hosting the SHOW.
